Romaine Tenney

Romaine Tenney was an Ascutney resident and farmer. In 1964, interstate 91 was being built, and Tenney’s home, where he was born and raised, was in the path of this highway. The federal government was set to take the property by eminent domain. Tenney refused and responded by releasing all his animals, set fire to the house and barn, and died in the flames himself.
